What to do if your wallet is lost or stolen?

Jeudi, juillet 30th, 2009

Unfortunately, these things happen to all of us, at home or abroad. In case it does, here are the things you can do:

1. Be prepared: before you find yourself in the unpleasant situation of losing your wallet, or being robbed, make copies of all the important documents you carry with you : credit cards, ID cards, licenses, passports, travelers checks, etc.

Make sure you photocopy both sides of these documents, and list your account numbers, and the phone numbers you would need to call to report them missing. To be safe, write down both local toll free numbers and collect call phone numbers. Keep this photocopy in a separate, safe place.

2. Call immediately: As soon as you discover a problem with your credit cards or traveler’s checks, call the companies involved to report the theft or loss. Do not procrastinate or wait. This might save you a significant amount of money! Most companies are available 24 hours a day to deal with these emergencies. Write down the name of each person you speak with.

If you do not know the phone number to call, think Tourizoom! Your experienced travel companion will be able to assist you with that information wherever you are.

3. Inform the authorities: If you have lost or have been robbed of your travel documents, you will need to contact the closest consular office so that they can assist you. To check the location and contact information of the closest consular office, call your Tourizoom travel companion.

Make your screening experience in and out of US airports smoother by following these simple tips found on the TSA website:
Faites en sorte que votre passage aux points de sécurité des aéroports américains est le plus facile possible en suivant ces simples recommandations faites par la TSA (Transportation Security Administration)

Travel Tips to Make Your Screening Experience Hassle-Free

  • The secret to getting through security smoothly is to de-clutter your carry-on bag. This lets our Transportation Security Officers get a clear, uncomplicated X-ray image of your carry-on.
  • When possible, keep packing liquids in checked baggage. You will get through security faster.
  • Limit quantities to what is needed for the duration of the flight.
